Pat

Pat Day Kohlman, E.D., has a passion for education. With sixteen years of teaching and twenty years of educational administration, she believes that all people have the capacity to continue to learn, regardless of age. Pat also believes that all students are gifted and talented, and with the right motivation and influence, can create a pattern of life-long learning. She applies this philosophy to herself, as well! Pat received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at the age of 21, and she received her Master of Education with a Specialization in Learning Disabilities in 1974, when she was twenty-four. During her dedicated career, she continued to take classes and receive certifications to help children with Learning and Behavioral Challenges. As she continued to work with children and families, she headed towards administration and received many accreditations in Supervision and Educational Leadership. At the age of 58, Pat embodied her values of continued education and stepped back into the student seat to receive her doctorate degree. After this wonderful achievement, Pat continued to work for five more years as a compassionate, enthusiastic, and devoted Principle, and Department Head. With her positive approach and wholistic perspective, Pat has continued to inspire young learners, especially her children and grandchildren. As an Educational Way-Shower and Goddess of Learning, during her 36-year career, Pat truly offered guidance that was patient, positive, and loving. This is recognized today by the consistent contact of former students and parents of former students to express gratitude to Pat for her loyal and committed mentorship, support, and encouragement. After her retirement in 2013, Pat has remained involved with many social organizations and book clubs. Additionally, she stays quite busy spending time with her family. Now, at 70 years young, she is exploring new possibilities for volunteer opportunities and supporting homebound students. Reflecting back on her many gifts, Pat identifies that she is an exceptional counselor for Academic Success.
